POPLAR BLUFF -- Earnest "Ted" Barnett, 89, of Poplar Bluff died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1996, at the Doctor's Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Aug. 10, 1907, in Clines Island, the son of the late Morton and Mary Elizabeth Sherrard Barnett. He moved to Poplar Bluff in 1962 and was a retired saw operator at the Himmelberger-Harrison plant in Morehouse.
He was first married to Eunice DeJournett, who preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 1990. He married Phyllis Burton in Poplar Bluff on Oct. 14, 1962, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1980.
He is survived by three sons, Jerry Barnett, of Bloomfield, Tommy Barnett, of Poplar Bluff, and Kevin Barnett, of Ft. Drum, N.Y.; two daughters, Tina Gettings, of Fisk, and Kathy Maguffee, of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son.
Friends may visit after 11 a.m. Friday at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kent Miller of Poplar Bluff officiating. Burial will be in the Bluff Cemetery at Idalia.
