Earlene C. Shirrell, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at Fountainbleau Lodge.
She was born Sept. 1, 1931, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to Ollie Vernon and Edith Rose Crockett Crossen. She and Cletis H. Shirrell were married Dec. 26, 1954, at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Oct. 24, 2015.
She was a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with a degree in elementary education.
She taught in schools at Neelyville, Missouri, and Cape Girardeau and also worked in retail and healthcare.
She was a member of First Church of God.
Survivors include two sons, Rick Shirrell of St. Louis and Dick (Jessie) Shirrell of O'Fallon, Missouri; a daughter, Vicki Warren of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by three brothers.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with her son, Rick Shirrell, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
