Earl Winfred Stevens, 85, of Dutchtown passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at the family home.
He was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Allenville, to William and Rosie Ann McIntre Stevens. He and Opal Janette Tucker were married Sept. 30, 1950.
Earl served in the National Guard 25 years.
He was a maintenance man at Lone Star, and was a member of AFL-CIO Steelworkers Union.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Stevens of the home; five sons, Rodger (Sue) Stevens and Steve (Linda) Stevens of Scott City, Tim (Kim) Stevens of Chaffee, Mo., Chris (Carol) Stevens of Scott City and Earl Ray (Christi) Stevens of Chaffee; a daughter, Brenda (David) McKee of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Stevens of Cape Girardeau; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Stevens; four brothers; and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. John Harth as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Edwards Catholic Cemetery at Dutchtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
