CANALOU -- Earl Sylvester Scott, 84, of Canalou died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at the St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 22, 1915, at Piggott, Ark., son of John Ruben and Sophia Esther Stevens Scott. He and Lila Mae Scott were married in January 1988.
He worked for many years as a rig operator in the oil fields of Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. He was also a member of the Canalou Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Billy Early Scott of Collinsville, Okla., and Tony Scott of Aztec, N.M.; a step-son, Frankie Dale Willis of Aztec; two daughters, Darlene Jeanette Shawn of Norman, Okla., and Donna Kay Rasberry of Emerson, Ark.; two step-daughters, Margaret Pace and Dorotha Fowler, both of Canalou; a brother, John Scott of Sikeston; a sister, Wilma May Ihrig of Mesa, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, a son, three brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel at Sikeston.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church at Canalou. The Rev. Mike Cartwright will officiate, with burial to follow at the Old Morley Cemetery at Morley.
