CHARLESTON -- Earl Schreck, 91, formerly of Charleston, died Monday, Jan. 8, 1996, at Bertrand Retirement Facility.
He was born July 30, 1904, in Jasper County, son of George Washington and Ona Jane Patton Schreck. He first married Marie Woods, who died in March 1932. He later married Claudia M. Turner Sept. 3, 1943. She died May 3, 1989.
Schreck lived in Mississippi County most of his life. He retired from Brown Shoe Co. in 1969. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, where he had been Sunday School superintendent, served on the church board, and was a Sunday School teacher 40 years.
Survivors include three stepsons, Wilson DePriest of St. Louis, Lester DePriest of Cape Girardeau, Leonard DePriest of Cookeville, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Evangeline DePriest of Charleston; two sisters, Mary Kenner of state of California, Gladys Armstrong of Carthage; a grandson; 10 stepgrandchildren; 11 great-stepgrandchildren, and three great-great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Howard Welches and Robert Warren officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
