Funeral for Earl J. Ponder of Denton, Texas, was held July 14 at Deberry Funeral Home in Denton. The Rev. Bruce Chamberlain officiated. Burial was in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
Ponder, 78, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, son of William A. and Anna Kohlfeld Ponder. He and Ruth Ford were married Jan. 19, 1947.
Ponder retired from General Motors, where he worked in material control. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in California.
He was an aviation radioman in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, David Brown of Denton; a brother, Jerome Ponder of Bridgeton, Mo.; a sister, Mildred Olmsted of Hazelwood, Mo.; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
