JACKSON -- Earl London, 70, of Jackson died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Services of Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 24, 1926, at Oran, son of Floyd and Alice Abbott London. He and Wanda Burnett were married Aug. 23, 1959. She died July 23, 1971. He later married Opal Griffith Oct. 27, 1978.
London moved to Cape Girardeau in 1959. He was a painter many years, worked at the former Landgraf Lumber Co., and was a custodian at Central High School 17 years, retiring in 1989. He attended Southside Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Terisa and Tina Hanebrink of Cape Girardeau; seven stepsons, Jim, Kenny, Frank, Don, Garry and Avery Hurt of Cape Girardeau, Keith Hurt of Jackson; two stepdaughters, Gloria Steger of Cape Girardeau, Brenda Baker of Jackson; a sister, Vivian Meyer of Florissant; five grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; a number of great-stepgrandchildren; and great-great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a grandson.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Vernon Long officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Arbor.
