Charles Earl Lewis, 78, of Henderson, Ark., died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at Baxter County Regional Hospital in Mountain Home, Ark. He was born Sept. 27, 1918, at Malden, son of Willie Jackson and Pearl Mae Pearman Lewis. He and Virginia Tilley were married Feb. 23, 1943, in Cape Girardeau. She died Dec. 17, 1982. Charles Earl Lewis, 78, of Henderson, Ark., died Wednesday, June 25, 1997, at Baxter County Regional Hospital in Mountain Home, Ark.

He was born Sept. 27, 1918, at Malden, son of Willie Jackson and Pearl Mae Pearman Lewis. He and Virginia Tilley were married Feb. 23, 1943, in Cape Girardeau. She died Dec. 17, 1982. He and Clara Prevor were married June 14, 1983, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Lewis lived in Cape Girardeau most of his life, and worked at Central Packing Co. 35 years. He was a member of Iona Baptist Church. He moved to Henderson in 1985 and was a member of Henderson Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Lewis of Herculaneum; three daughters, Carolyn Clary and Debbie Groves of Cape Girardeau, Cathy Raines of Scott City; two stepdaughters, Faye Longfield of Monument, Colo., Sandy Reiher of Delta, Colo.; a brother, John Lewis of Cape Girardeau; five sisters, Jane McDaniel of Cape Girardeau, Doss Eaker of Troy, Ill., Kay Riley of Gamaliel, Ark., Patsy Howton of Granite City, Ill., Shirley Dean VanGennip of Jackson; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and 11 great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
