Earl Kimbrel

Earl S. Kimbrel, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at his home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Elora, Mo., to Clarence S. and Clara Peters Kimbrel. He and Patsy Ravenstein were married Dec. 15, 1951, in Cape Girardeau.

Earl served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was an automobile glass mechanic at Monroe Glass Co. for 40 years. He then worked at Pioneer Orchard from 1990 to 2000 helping to maintain the orchard.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 63 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Kimbrel of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Deborah J. Birk of Jackson and Karen K. (Joseph) Hann of Cape Girardeau; a half brother, Ray Hopkins of St. Louis; a sister, Katherine Arunski of St. Louis; a stepsister, Beulah Renfroe of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alvin Kimbrel; a stepbrother, Norman Hopkins; two stepsisters, Pauline Limbaugh and Helen Morgan; and a half sister, Sue Shell.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with full military honors by Missouri Honor Guard and American Legion Post 63.

Memorial contributions may be given to Grace United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 63, or Southeast Hospice.
