MARBLE HILL -- Earl Gene Proffer, 55, of Marble Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born May 24, 1937, at Jackson, son of Earley H. and Dorothy Nothdurft Proffer. He and Janice Cobb were married Aug. 6, 1955.
Proffer was a retired, self-employed auto mechanic and auto bodyman. He moved to this area in 1981 from St. Charles. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Proffer of Marble Hill, Earl Proffer of St. Charles; a daughter, Terri Perrone of St. Peters; his father and stepmother, Earley and Marcella Proffer of Whitewater; a foster son, Alton Heffner of Kentucky; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Liley Funeral Chapel here. Burial will be in Proffer Cemetery at Crump.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
