Edwin Earl Brunke, 86, of Scott City died Monday, March 3, 2008, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born May 11, 1921, in Arriba, Colo., son of Herman Henry and Maggie McCallum Brunke. On April 4, 1948, in Paragould, Ark., he married Margie Marie Fornkohl. She passed away Jan. 18, 1968. He then married Marilyn Heidbreder July 14, 1979. She died Oct. 27, 1990...

Edwin Earl Brunke, 86, of Scott City died Monday, March 3, 2008, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 11, 1921, in Arriba, Colo., son of Herman Henry and Maggie McCallum Brunke. On April 4, 1948, in Paragould, Ark., he married Margie Marie Fornkohl. She passed away Jan. 18, 1968. He then married Marilyn Heidbreder July 14, 1979. She died Oct. 27, 1990.

Brunke was employed at NOBA Inc. in Tiffin, Ohio, as a cattle artificial inseminator and was a maintenance supervisor at Cape LaCroix Manor. He was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City, and the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1940-1941.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Paula Brunke of Scott City, Ed and Diana Brunke, Tony and Phyllis Brunke, Rick and Susie Brunke, all of Jackson; three daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Bill Shumpert of Whitewater, Julia and Fred Craft of Jackson, and Linda and Mark Wessell of Gordonville.

Also two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Mark and Mary Heidbreder of Houston, Joel and Isabelle Heidbreder of O'Fallon, Mo.; two stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Lisa and Ernie Moxey of Sikeston, Mo., Laura Heidbreder of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Irma Frye of Scott City; 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dean Brunke; two sisters, two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and three stepsons.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, and from 8:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at Eisleben Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eisleben Church, with the Rev. Bob Azinger officiating. Burial will be in Eisleben Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Eisleben Lutheran Church.
