Earl W. "Bill" Blattel, 94, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 5, 1918, at Cape Girardeau to Frank and Ollie V. Stallings Blattel.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army.
Mr. Blattel was a heavy equipment operator for R.B. Potashnick CO. from 1948 until his retirement in 1980.
He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and V.F.W. Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Joyce) Blattel of Gordonville, and Tom (Barbara) Blattel of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
