Harold Dwight Williams, 83, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016.
Dwight was the son of the late Lowell and Nila Adams Williams of Dexter, Missouri.
Dwight graduated from Dexter High School in 1951. He married Naomi Norman in 1952. He married Pat Miller in 2004.
He started his career in residential construction with his father and later worked in commercial construction for Pebble, Geupel Demars & Hagerman, Contract Surety Consultants, Bausch & Lomb and Nello Teer Construction in North Carolina.
Dwight resided and worked in North Carolina for 30 years. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 2003.
He enjoyed fishing for king mackerel at Emerald Isle, North Carolina, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Dwight was a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. He was also a member of the Maple United Methodist Choir and a trustee chairman and member of other committees at the church.
He was a life member volunteer of Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary and a life member of Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation. In addition, Dwight was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis.
Dwight is survived by his beloved wife, Pat Williams; seven children, Dr. David (Cindy) Williams, Daniel Williams and Caryl (Brent) Webb of Cary, North Carolina, Christa (Jerry) Gala of Apex, North Carolina, Steve (Susan) Miller of Jackson, Cathy (John) Dirnberger of St. Charles, Missouri, and Tom (Wendy) Miller of Jemison, Alabama. He's also survived by 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Linda Williams of Bloomfield, Missouri.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Nila Williams, and also by four siblings, Genevia Maxine Williams, Lowell Carl Williams, Paul Leslie Williams and Rex Duane Williams.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Maple United Methodist Church.
The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Dexter City Cemetery in Dexter.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Maple United Methodist Church or Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation.
