DEXTER, Mo. -- Dwight Russell McQuary, 79, of Dexter passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
He was born July 31, 1933, in Dexter, son of Broyles Sumner and Ada Ray McQuary.
Dwight was a graduate of Dexter High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict.
He attended Logan College in St. Louis, and returned to Dexter to start a chiropractic practice. He became a claims adjuster with Shelter Insurance, moving to Cape Girardeau in 1969 to continue his career with Shelter Insurance until retiring. He moved back to Dexter in 1990 and married Muriel Joy Kilmer, who preceded him in death in 2006.
McQuary is survived by three sons and their spouses, Mark McQuary (Carolyn) of Tallahassee, Fla., John McQuary (Ana) of Stuttgart, Germany, David McQuary (Susan) of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and many friends and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne McQuary.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 at First United Methodist Church in Dexter, with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo., with full military honors conducted.
Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
