BELL CITY -- Dr. O.M. Richards, 72, of Bell City died Monday, Feb. 17, 1997, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.
He was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Greenwood, S.C., son of Lawrence and Sally Williams Rivers. He and Mildred Bidewell were married Oct. 4, 1944, at Ninety Six, S.C.
Rivers had been a practicing chiropractor since 1949, was a former mayor of Bell City, and had been an agent with Old American Insurance Co. He was a member of State Chiropractic Association. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mitchell Rivers of Oakville, Daniel Rivers of O'Fallon, Ill.; two daughters, Sheilah Coomer of Waveland, Miss., Hollye Abner of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Marion Rivers of Greenwood; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Dan Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park at Marble Hill.
