EDINBURG, Texas -- Dr. Kathryn Marie Lang, 68, went home to our Lord on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
She was born Dec. 22, 1949, in St. Louis, daughter of Merrill George Hall Sr. and Letha L. "Rita" Clubb. She and Larry Lang were married Aug. 22, 1970.
She received bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Southeast Missouri State University. She earned a doctorate from Texas A&M in 1987. She was also an educator for 32 years, teaching at Weslaco Independent School District, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD, Harligen Consolidated ISD, University of Texas Pan American and the University of Brownsville as an adjunct professor. She was the principal at St. Paul Lutheran School in McAllen, Texas, for four years.
Kathryn enjoyed going to the livestock shows and watching her sons and grandsons show cattle. She also loved traveling everywhere and seeing new places.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Lynn Lang of Edinburg; two sons, Eric (Norma) Lang of Sandia, Texas, and Nathan Lang of Austin, Texas; two grandsons, Christopher Lang of Norfolk, Virginia, and Nicholas Lang of Savannah, Georgia; a brother, Merrill Hall Jr. of Edinburg; and three cousins, Rita Rohlfing LaPelle, Nancy Rohlfing Hootselle and Paula Goerger.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. A private interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation serving Eastern Missouri.
