Dr. Joseph Nicholas Jaeger, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 5, 2003, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Jackson, son of Charles Boniface and Floy Dean Howard Jaeger.

Jaeger was a graduate of Jackson High School and a 1949 graduate of Washington University.

He was a physician in Jackson from 1950 to 1984. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Capaha Scottish Rite Club, Masonic Excelsior Lodge 441 AF&AM, American Medical Association, Washington University Alumni Association, and former member of Evening Optimist Club in Jackson. He received the Heritage Award in 1986.

Survivors include five daughters, Jo Bonner of Ballwin, Mo., Jean Gibbs of Jackson, Sue Ulrich of Lees Summit, Mo., Mary Mayfield and Judy Triller of Jackson; and 12 grandchildren, Laura Bonner, Nicholas Bonner, Justin Gibbs, Kalli Gibbs, Lucas Ulrich, Jill Ulrich, Erin Mayfield, Benjamin Mayfield, Jessica Triller, Emily Triller, Anna Triller and Janie Triller.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Dr. Brian Anderson. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jackson R-2 Scholarship Fund.
