Dr. Jerline Dossett, 75, died Saturday, June 8, 1996, at the Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 19, 1920, in Paducah, Ky., the daughter of G. Frank and Zora Meadows Dossett.
Dossett received her bachelor's degree in education from Murray State University and her master's degree from George Peabody College for Teachers in 1942. Her doctorate was earned at Michigan State University in 1963.
She taught at elementary schools in Paducah and served as principal before coming to Southeast Missouri State University in 1952. She was a member of Delta Kappa Society and the Association for Childhood Education, serving as state president of the later from 1970 to 1972. During that time, she was invited to the White House Conference on Children and Youth.
Dossett was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, where she was active in the Baptist Women's Organization and the adult choir.
Survivors include her cousins.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral service will be conducted at 6 today at the funeral chapel, with Dr. John E. Owen officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Cemetery in Graves County, Ky.
