POPLAR BLUFF -- Dr. Harold Allen Poe, 79, died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Lucy Lee Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1918, in Flint, Mich., son of Myrtle Thorn and Dr. James Allen Poe. He and Jacqueline Ringer were married. He and Sally Vivian Young were married in 1956. She preceded him in death.
Poe was a 1936 graduate of Bloomfield High School and attended the Kansas City College of Osteopathy. He had a practice in St. Louis during the early 1940s. He moved to Dexter in 1944 where he maintained a practice for 52 years. He retired in 1996.
Poe was a member of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club and the Methodist church. He also was a lifetime member of Dexter Masonic Lodge 532 and a 32nd-degree member of the Scottish Rite. He also was a 50-year member of the Moolah Temple Shrine in St. Louis.
Survivors include a daughter, Candace; and several cousins.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Rainey Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Hank Foster and Elvis Mooney officiating. Burial will be in West Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Bloomfield.
