SIKESTON -- Dr. C. Edward Felker III, 47, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. He was born Jan. 13, 1950, in Sikeston, the son of John Russell and Mary Jolene "JoAnne" Edwards Felker. He married Jan Colton Sargent on Dec. 28, 1970, in Sikeston...

SIKESTON -- Dr. C. Edward Felker III, 47, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 13, 1950, in Sikeston, the son of John Russell and Mary Jolene "JoAnne" Edwards Felker.

He married Jan Colton Sargent on Dec. 28, 1970, in Sikeston.

He was a graduate of Sikeston High School where he participated in football and received honorable mention as an all-state player. He graduated in 1972 from Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn., and in 1976 from medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He practiced medicine as an ear, nose and throat surgeon in Cape Girardeau for a year and in Sikeston for the past 16 years. He served as assistant chief of staff for one year at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he was involved in missionary work. He served in leadership positions as branch president, bishop, president of the Cape Girardeau stake, ward mission leader, stake missionary and stake high council.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, C. Edward Felker IV of Columbia and Andrew Sargent Felker of Sikeston; five daughters, Jessica Michelle Felker Carle and Jan Ellen Felker Sanders, both of Columbia, Kathryn "Katie" Felker, Colton Felker and Mary Caroline Felker, all of Sikeston; a brother, John Russell Felker Jr. of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, JoEllen Lewis of St. Louis and Jane Ann Nowell of Nashville, Tenn.; and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston and from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sikeston.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Matthew Raymond officiating.
