OLIVE BRANCH - Doyle Shipley, 74, of Olive Branch, died Sunday Nov. 24, 1991 at the Daystar Nursing in Cairo. He was born at Van Fleet, Miss. on Sept. 24, 1917 to Jeff and Thelma Gilliam Shipley. For 25 years, he and his wife owned and operated the Goose Pit Restaurant in Olive Branch. He was a retired pipefitter with Local Union 562 in St. Louis, was a member of the Cairo Propellers Club, the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce, and the Alexander County Ducks Unlimited chapter...

OLIVE BRANCH - Doyle Shipley, 74, of Olive Branch, died Sunday Nov. 24, 1991 at the Daystar Nursing in Cairo.

He was born at Van Fleet, Miss. on Sept. 24, 1917 to Jeff and Thelma Gilliam Shipley.

For 25 years, he and his wife owned and operated the Goose Pit Restaurant in Olive Branch. He was a retired pipefitter with Local Union 562 in St. Louis, was a member of the Cairo Propellers Club, the Olive Branch Chamber of Commerce, and the Alexander County Ducks Unlimited chapter.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy McLaughin Shipley, of Olive Branch; a daughter, Jackie Bridges of Collinsville, Ill.; three sisters, Joanna McKenna of Collinsville, and Virginia Shipley and Betty Kirk of Belleville, Ill.; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde.

Visitation will be at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms from 5-9 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville. Visitation before the service will begin at 9:00. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Belleville.
