Douglas Lemay Segraves, son of R.H. and Katherine Lou Phillips Segraves, was born April 10, 1949, in Pocahontas, Ark., and departed this life Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at his home in Van Buren, Mo. He had attained the age of 58 years, five months, and 26 days.
Mr. Segraves had resided in Van Buren the past 10 years, where he ran the Hawthorne Campground. He was formerly of Cape Girardeau and had worked for ACBL Lines as a riverboat first mate.
Doug was a U.S. Navy veteran and was of the Baptist belief. He was a Mason and enjoyed playing poker, fishing, hunting and just being outdoors and on Current River.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Phillip Segraves.
Survivors include his mother, Katherine Segraves of Biggers, Ark.; girlfriend, Lorie Tanner of Van Buren; a son, Kelley Segraves; a daughter, Katherine Segraves, both of Cape Girar-deau; two brothers, Bruce and Larry Segraves of Van Buren; a sister, Phyllis Waddell of Springdale, Ark.; and many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren. The Rev. Loy Culver of Piggott, Ark., will officiate.
