Douglas R. Pringle, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 3, 2007, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

He was born Oct. 7, 1922, in rural Greeley County, Kan., the son of Earl and Maude Tefft Pringle. He married Ruhe Rudd Pringle Dec. 7, 1943, in Tribune, Kan. She preceded him in death Feb. 2, 2001.

Pringle graduated from Greeley County High School in Tribune, Kan., in 1941, and served in the U.S. Army in England and France from 1942 to 1945. He received an honorable discharge.

He had been a rancher, cattleman and bank director until 1964, when he completed coursework in banking. He served as a bank executive at First National Bank of Tribune and at Western State Bank in Garden City, Kan. He retired in 1988.

Pringle was a member, choir member and elder of the United Presbyterian Church in Tribune, founded by his father. He was also a member of the Rotary International from 1969 to 1996, and served as District 567 Governor from 1971 to 1972. He was a Paul Harris Fellow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters; a son, Robert; a grandson, Andy; and his wife, Ruhe.

He is survived by three children, Bryce Pringle of Shenandoah, Iowa, Dr. Scot Pringle of Cape Girardeau and Janet Pringle Reeder of Lawrence, Kan.; a brother, Calvin of Tribune; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Church of the Nazarene. His ashes will be interred at Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune in April.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chateau Girardeau Foundation or the Robert E. Pringle Memorial Scholarship at the Kansas University Endowment Association in Lawrence, Kan.
