Douglas Glenn Pender, 86, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 1, 1933, in Ruble, Missouri, to the late William N. and Edna M. Church Pender. He and June Albert were married Dec. 24, 1953.
Douglas served in the U.S. Army. He retired from working on the river and also had worked for Operating Engineers Local 513. He attended Cape Community Church, raised Tennessee walking horses and enjoyed traveling the country with the local Gold Wing motorcycle chapter.
Loving survivors include his wife of 66 years, June Pender of Jackson; daughter, Cheryl (Steve) Amos of Jackson; sisters, Sally Gann of Jackson, Artie Miller of Columbia, Missouri, Charlotte Cowell of Grassy, Missouri, and Saundra Stout of Columbia, Missouri; brothers, Richard N. Pender of Delta and Larry D. Pender of Winona, Missouri; grandchildren, Rodney Amos and Stephanie (Cary) Dunavan; great-grandchildren, Bailey Amos, Tyler Amos and Brenna Dunavan; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy Joe Pender.
A private family visitation will be held today at Ford and Sons Funeral Home.
Burial, with full military honors, will take place at a later date at Cape County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
