Douglas Hiett
ADVANCE, Mo. -- Douglas G. Hiett, 76, of Advance passed away Friday, March 13, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 22, 1932, in Cape Girardeau County, son of Dan and Ruth Montgomery Hiett.
Doug retired after 40 years as a welder with Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a kind and good-hearted man.
Doug and Billie Palmer were united in marriage April 12, 1985, at Dexter, Mo.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, April (Paul) McFerron of Advance, Vicki (Dennis) Troyer of Olathe, Kan.; a brother, Harry Hiett of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Pat Donaldson of Cape Girardeau, Peggy Garnett of St. Louis, Carolyn Ossick of Marietta, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Whitney McFerron of Chicago, Matthew McFerron of Advance, Shannon and Brandon Troyer of Olathe.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
