GORDONVILLE -- Dorothy A. Wessel, 73, of Gordonville died Friday, May 26, 2000, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 13, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of August A. and Lena Caroline Meyer Heuer. She and Nelson Wessel were married Sept. 22, 1945. He died July 29, 1989.
Wessel had worked at the former Litz Bros Poultry Plant and the former Kroger Egg Plant in Jackson, and retired from LeeRowan Co. in Jackson in 1989. She and her husband also owned and operated a farm south of Gordonville.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid at Gordonville and a former member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Wessel of Bloomington, Ind., Denny and David "Joe" Wessel of Gordonville; three daughters, Deborah Landgraf and Diane Gorton of Gordonville, Doris Denny of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, George Heuer of Cape Girardeau, Robert Heuer of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Erma Huffmann of St. Louis; and 12 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
