ADVANCE, Mo. -- Dorothy Shell, 97, of Advance died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 30, 1908, in Rudolph, Ohio, daughter of James and Carrie Bratt Black. She and Doyle Shell were married March 12, 1925, in Oklahoma. He died in February 1981.
Dorothy was a salesclerk many years at Ward's Store in Advance. She also owned and operated a restaurant in Advance. She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Janel Reutzel of Advance; three grandchildren, Beth Spitzmiller of Advance, Gretchen Dunivan of Arcadia Valley, Mo., Brett Reutzel of Fredericktown, Mo.; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Lee Bird, and a grandson, Michael Bird.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Derek Staples officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park.
