GRAYSON, Ga. -- Dorothy Lee Peetz, 95, of Grayson passed away Monday, June 3, 2019.
Dorothy was born June 14, 1923, to the late Anthony and Myrtle Cook Statler in Cape Girardeau.
She lived in Kentucky, Wisconsin and Arkansas before moving to Georgia in 1999.
She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State College and taught home economics and art before retirement.
She loved to fish, knit, crochet and love on her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Carolyn (Gary) Madsen and Terry (Kathy) Peetz; four grandchildren, Kevin, Kerri, Brian and Michael; and 10 great-grandchildren, Nate, August, Jacob, Carter, Julia, Alaina, Olivia, Katelyn, Bethany and Cara.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John William Peetz; and sister, Edna Burchyett.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's name are preferred to American Cancer Society or Handy Hands at Grayson United Methodist Church, 555 Grayson Parkway, Grayson, GA 30017.
The family would like to thank her caregivers from Benton House of Grayson and Family Private Care for their love and compassion for Dorothy during the past months.
