ST. LOUIS -- Dorothy Jane Oberndorfer, 80, of St. Louis passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011, at her home.

Dorothy was born Oct. 17, 1930, in Old Appleton, youngest of eight children to Oscar and Helen Meyer Dambach.

Beloved wife of 62 years to Marvin T. Oberndorfer; cherished mother and mother-in-law of Roy (Diane) Oberndorfer, Roger Oberndorfer, Terry Oberndorfer (Michelle Appal), all of St. Louis, and David Oberndorfer (Gloria Descheda) of O'Fallon, Mo.; loving grandmother of Roy (Kayleigh) Oberndorfer Jr., Brandon Oberndorfer, Tyler Sills and Lauren Sills; dear great-grandmother of Christian Oberndorfer; darling sister to Lillian Brune, Mary Heartling and Frances Krass; our dear sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, godmother, cousin, and friend to many.

Dorothy worked at DePaul Hospital before retiring in 1997, and volunteered at St. Matthew Lutheran Church many years. She was a compassionate and loving woman and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by parents; two sisters, Leona Huber and Florence Drum; and two brothers, Elliot and Ralph Dambach.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. today at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg, Mo.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna, Mo., with the Rev. Rod Benkendorf officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to Heartland Hospice, Susan G. Komen for the Cure or Concordia Lutheran Church.

Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, Mo., provided the arrangements.
