JACKSON -- Dorothy Morton Estes, 88, of Jackson died Sunday, April 7, 1996, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 22, 1908, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., the daughter of James William and Ida Crider Webb. She married Clarence P. Morton on March 14, 1929, in Doniphan, and he died May 16, 1966. She then married Jesse R. Estes Sr. on Jan. 5, 1971, in Jackson, and he died Feb. 14, 1974...

JACKSON -- Dorothy Morton Estes, 88, of Jackson died Sunday, April 7, 1996, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 22, 1908, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., the daughter of James William and Ida Crider Webb. She married Clarence P. Morton on March 14, 1929, in Doniphan, and he died May 16, 1966. She then married Jesse R. Estes Sr. on Jan. 5, 1971, in Jackson, and he died Feb. 14, 1974.

Estes was a nurse's aide at Deal Nursing Home for 14 years before her retirement in 1972. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Jackson.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Morton of Jackson, Ronald R. Morton of Cape Girardeau and Nelson V. Morton of Kampsville, Ill.; two stepsons, Kenneth L. Estes and Donald R. Estes of Crestwood; two daughters, Marjorie Frost of St. Genevieve and LaFern Cockrell of Jefferson City; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Spurlock of Sikeston; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sons, five stepsons and a daughter.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Calvin Walter officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery north of Fruitland.
