Dorothy Lou Lowes, 90, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born July 19, 1928, in Egypt Mills to Rudy and Erna Schwettman Brinkman. She and Loel "Cotton" Lowes were married June 1, 1946, at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death.
Dorothy worked at Cape GMC and Sears. She loved to travel, especially to Branson, Missouri. Dorothy also liked to collect salt and pepper shakers. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and The Red Hat Society.
Loving survivors include a son, Joe D. (Earline) Lowes of Benton, Missouri; daughter, Susan (Matt) Brown of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Jay (Bonnie) Lowes, Luke (Alexis) Lowes, Jason Menz, Chris (Hallie) Brown, Lori (Travis) Dirnberger and Cara (Mark) Rose; 10 great-grandchildren, Leo Lowes, Olivia and Jack Brown, Jacob Price, Bella and Wyatt Rose, Taylor and Mallory Lowes, Kaylyn Michael and Seth Menz; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Marie Borchelt.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Douglas C. Breite officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or Trinity Lutheran Church.
