Dorothy Lydia Nussbaum Mateka Latko, 89, of Fairfax, Va., passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at the Almost Home Care Facility in Fairfax. She was born Jan. 28, 1923, near Gordonville, daughter of Truman Leo and Frieda Maag Nussbaum. Dorothy and William John Mateka were married May 7, 1946. He preceded her in death June 30, 1975. She and Stanley Latko were married July 7, 1995...

Dorothy Lydia Nussbaum Mateka Latko, 89, of Fairfax, Va., passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at the Almost Home Care Facility in Fairfax.

She was born Jan. 28, 1923, near Gordonville, daughter of Truman Leo and Frieda Maag Nussbaum. Dorothy and William John Mateka were married May 7, 1946. He preceded her in death June 30, 1975. She and Stanley Latko were married July 7, 1995.

While living in St. Louis, Dorothy was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church and had worked at Concordia Publishing House more than 30 years, retiring in 1988. She was also active in the Southside Business Women's Association of St. Louis.

Dorothy moved to Fairfax in 2006 and became a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Joan Mateka Castellano of St. Louis, Kay Mateka Hathaway of Fairfax; six sisters, Gladys Kraemer of St. Charles, Mo., Viola Sadler of Burfordville, Faye Amelunke of Jackson, Lora Henk of Ironton, Mo., Joan Burns of Jackson, Vanna Peel Hoydt of Sedgewickville, Mo.; a brother, Robert Nussbaum of Jackson; four grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph and Truman "Butch" Nussbaum; and two sisters, Coleen Weisenborn and Nelda Craft.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Wayne Krohe and Kenneth Green officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
