SIKESTON, Mo. -- Dorothy M. Kent, 75, of Sikeston died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 25, 1933, in Blytheville, Ark., daughter of the Rev. Robert and Pearlie Mae Johnson Gibson. She and Julius Kent were married in 1960. He preceded her in death.
Kent was a member of West End Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Horace Gibson of Cape Girardeau, Steve Gibson of St. Louis; two daughters, Shirley Walker of Chicago, Gloria Merriweather of Sikeston; five brothers, Robert Gibson of Atlanta, the Rev. William Gibson of Marion, Ill., Asther Gibson of St. Louis, Sam Gibson of Sikeston, the Rev. James Gibson of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; five sisters, Mildred Cross of Wilson City, Mo., Annie Pickett, Robbie Aldridge and Mary Blunt of St. Louis, Ruth Cole of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to service time Saturday at West End Church.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Chester Yarber officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, Mo.
Williams Funeral Home in Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
