Dorothy Quarles Weirich Garner, 84, of Webster Groves, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, April 14, 1992, at her home.
She was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, received the Alumni Merit Award in 1969 from Southeast, and received a master's degree from Washington University.
She was an English teacher at Central High School, and had been a speech teacher at Webster Groves.
She married Charles E. Garner, who preceded her in death.
Garner served several times as president of Missouri State Speech Association; chairman of the Secondary Schools Speech Interest Group; member of the editorial board of Speech Teacher, the official publication of the association.
Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth Miller of Ladue and Nell Quarles of Webster Groves.
