CONCORDIA, Mo. -- Dorothy Ellen Davis Fuhrmann, 82, of Concordia, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs, Mo.
She was born Feb. 8, 1922, near Randles, daughter of Harrison and Grace Lape Davis. She and Earl Fuhrmann were married Aug. 10, 1941, at Cape Girardeau.
Fuhrmann moved to Concordia in 1952. She worked at the Lutheran Nursing Home and then was director of the Student Health Center for 24 years. Fuhrmann was a graduate of the Colorado Nursing School program of Student Health Center Operation and Student Care. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school, served on the Altar Guild, Task Force for Older Adults, Older Adult Ministries Board, the Building Committee and was a member of the 1912 Ladies' Aide as well as a charter member of the St. Paul's Guild. She was also a Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scout leader, director of the junior bowling league, a member of American Legion Post 258 Auxiliary and had served on a number of civic committees.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Gerald Fuhrmann of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; a daughter, Joan Pennington of Martinsville, Ind.; two brothers, Charles Davis of Cape Girardeau, Eldon Davis of Gordonville; three sisters, Gladys Davis of McClure, Ill., Hazel Gross of Gordonville, Judith Wunderlich of Jackson; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia, with the Rev. R. Lee Hagan officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
