Dorothy Fricks
JONESBORO, Ill. -- Dorothy McCloud Fricks, 91, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 25, 1917, in Reynoldsville, Ill., daughter of Ernest and Mae McCloud. She and John Henson Sinks of West Frankfort, Ill., were married in 1941. He died in 1942.
She married Robert Jefferson Fricks in 1945. He died in 1958.
Fricks was a licensed hairdresser working in her home for many years before being employed by the Union County Hospital Skilled Nursing Home in Anna. Ill., as a hairdresser. She was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna for more than 40 years, where she served as President of the Women's Association.
Survivors include a son, Robert "Bobby" Fricks of Jonesboro; two daughters, Nancy Watkins and Lana Benefield of Jonesboro; a sister, Pat Grammer of Milford, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, a grandchild and two brothers.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Anna.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Rev. Randy Carstens officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
