Dorothy Hoyer Dillon, 88, of Springfield, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, in Springfield.

Dot, as she was known by her many friends, was a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau until the fall of 2002, when she and her husband Kin moved to Springfield for health reasons.

She was born June 25, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, to Gertrude and Robert A. Faust Sr.

Dorothy first married Sanford G. Jones of Charleston, Mo., in 1942. He preceded her in an accidental death in 1949. She and Walter Kinnard "Kin" Dillon of Morehouse, Mo., were married July 5, 1952. Their union lasted until Kin's death at age 82 in Springfield on Dec. 4, 2002.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons of her first marriage, Steve Jones of St. Louis, Mike Jones and wife Gloria of Springfield. She is also survived by three grandsons, Matt Jones and wife Beverly of Frisco, Texas, Brett Jones and wife Alison of Kansas City, Mo., Scott Jones and wife Kelli of Jefferson City, Mo.; and five great-grandchildren.

She also leaves behind a younger brother, Robert A. "Tony" Faust Jr. and his daughters, Julie Michel and Stacy Faust, all of St. Louis.

Dorothy and Kin were faithful members of Centenary United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. She fondly remembered her many friends there and in the area and looked forward to the day she could return home.

Dorothy will be buried in Cape County Memorial Park with both her husbands, parents and sister-in-law, Jean Faust.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karen Mustoe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2001 South Lindbergh Boulevard, St. Louis, Mo., 63131.
