Dorothy Cotner

Dorothy Ann Cotner, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born May 10, 1919, at Kelso, Mo., daughter of Andrew and Clara Zent Scherer. She and Lester W. Cotner were married June 26, 1941.

Cotner was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso and its Ladies Sodality; Knights of Columbus Auxiliary 1111; Scott City VFW Auxiliary Post 6407, where she served as trustee, historian, vice president and president; and member of VFW Auxiliary Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a son, Lester Cotner of Kelso; a sister, Mary Sanford of Cahokia, Ill.; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and six great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. A prayer service will be held at 6.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
