Dorothy Arnell Carbaugh, 80, of Jackson went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at home.

She was born Dec. 25, 1933, in Cape Girardeau to the late Floyd N. and Hazel B. Cowan Estes.

Arnell and Henry Roger Carbaugh were married Nov. 7, 1953. He preceded her in death.

In 1976, she and her husband were graduates of Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Okla. They also were founders of Christian Faith Fellowship.

She then went on to get a bachelor's degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1979. Arnell taught at Kelley Public School in Benton, Mo., in 1979 and in 1982 began teaching at Christian Faith Academy, now Eagle Ridge Christian School.

She was a member of Rock of Cape and worked for the church as a minister and teacher for 38 years.

Arnell is survived by two sons, Mark (Debbie) Carbaugh of Jackson and David (Patty) Carbaugh of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; a daughter, Robin Bell of Jackson; three brothers, Jack Estes of Perryville, Mo., Carl Estes of Scott City and Lloyd Estes of Benton, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Nickless of Booneville, Ind., Shirleen Dalton of St. Louis and Becky Miles of Alabama; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Andrew) Mellies, Josh Carbaugh, Michael, Mikaela, John Mark, David Paul Carbaugh, Jonathan and Sarah Bell; and two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Christian Mellies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Sonny, Donny and Kim Estes.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tony Hammack officiating.

Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Mark Carbaugh, Michael Carbaugh, Jonathan Bell, Andrew Mellies, Josh Carbaugh and Walter Margrabe.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Eagle Ridge Christian School Scholarship Fund.
