SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Dorothy Veasman Barnes of Sikeston will be held at 10 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Charles E. Buck will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery here.
Barnes, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 1994, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born May 18, 1907, in Gray Ridge, daughter of William and Laura Priday. She first married Alton P. Veasman, who preceded her in death. She later married Harley Barnes, who also preceded her in death.
Barnes had been a teacher in Gray Ridge, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include a stepson, Harley Barnes of Sikeston; two stepbrothers, Gene Barnes of Sikeston, Paul Barnes of Canalou; three stepsisters, Wilma Smith of Sikeston, Louise Shock of Gideon, and Pat Adams of Bloomington, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a daughter.
