DOROTHY A. DEMARIS

SIKESTON -- Dorothy A. DeMaris, 76, of Sikeston died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1991, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Dec. 27, 1915, at Morehouse, the daughter of Jeff Byrd and Jennie Pearl Parker Shelby. In 1948, she married Estel DeMaris, who preceded her in death Oct. 31, 1974.

She was a homemaker and for 25 years the cashier at the Malone Theater in Sikeston. She also formerly worked at the Sikeston Daily Standard newspaper.

Survivors include two sons, David DeMaris of Houston, Texas and Garland Castleberry of Atlanta, Ga.; a step-son, Lloyd DeMaris of Port Angeles, Wash.; two daughters, June Castelberry Hart of Springfield and Kay DeMaris Johnson of St. Louis; a step-daughter, Mildred Nebert of Port Angeles; a brother, Jack Shelby of McMinnville, Oregon; a sister, Johnnie Mae Sizemore of North Dakota; 28 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A daugther, step-daughter and half-brother also preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Milton Pool will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston .
