ORAN, Mo. -- Dorlis B. Young, 78, of Oran, beloved wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, went to walk the shores of heaven with her family by her side Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born in Gideon on Jan. 21, 1931, to Frank and Ethel Jordon Vaughn.
She married William "Shorty" Young, the love of her life, on Oct. 26, 1946, and he survives.
Dorlis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oran.
She was a licensed practical nurse for 29 years at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Tony Young of Oran and Mark (Phyllis) Young of Cheyenne, Wyo.; one brother, Dale (Marilyn) Vaughn of Morley, Mo.; one sister, Wanda (Robert) Ogden of Morley; three grandchildren, Justin and Angie Young of St. Louis, and Lisa Young of Oran; one great-granddaughter, Breanna of Oran; special family members Rickey and Carolyn Smith of Oran. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating.
Burial will be in the New Morley Cemetery.
