JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -- Doris Tyler Gardner, 81, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
She was born May 12, 1918, at Conway, S.C., daughter of Chester Hooks and Gertrude Tyler. She and James F. Gardner were married. He preceded her in death.
She had been a teacher and social worker until retiring.
She was a member of St. Augustine Church in Jeffersonville and had been a volunteer for the Little Angel Shop.
Survivors include three daughters, Thelma Asher and Mary Sue Everslage, both of Louisville, Ky., and Karen Upton of Jeffersonville; three sons, Dr. Robert Gardner of Cape Girardeau, and James and John Gardner, both of Jeffersonville; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. at Coots Funeral Home in Jeffersonville.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Church, with the Rev. Clifford Vogelsang officiating.
Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Charlestown, Ind.
