Doris Marie Criddle, 91, of Whitewater died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Cape Girardeau to Steve and Martha Kay Schaefer Owens. She and James William Criddle were married June 17, 1948, at Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death July 18, 2016.
Doris was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson.
Survivors include a son, James S. (Kathy) Criddle of Millersville; a daughter, Jane (Jim) Bowers of Whitewater; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son and daughter-in-law, John Clifford and Susan Criddle; brother, Raymond Owens; sisters, Virginia Strickert and Irma Dell Green; and one grandchild, Angela McDaniel.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or School.
