Doris Lea Balogh, 82, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 5, 1939, in Urbana, Illinois, daughter of Thornton and Delores Elliott. She married Vernon Balogh Nov. 3, 1957, and was a loving wife to him until he preceded her in death in 2013.

Doris worked in various jobs, including working as a telephone operator and a certified nurse's aide. However, the role she was most passionate about was caring for her family. Doris also accepted many stepgrandchildren into her family and loved them as her own. Her heart had no boundaries.

Loving survivors include six children, Andrew Vernon (Lori) Balogh of North Dakota, Michael Duane (Carmen) Balogh of California, Jonathan Eric (Lorraine) Balogh of California, Judith Ann (Bobby) Steck of Jackson, Thornton James "T.J." (Robin) Balogh of Cape Girardeau and Thomas Scott (Marie) Balogh of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Judy Smith, Lita Leon and Gay Ann Zimmer, all of Illinois, and Terry Mason of Virginia; a brother-in-law, Phillip Adams of Nevada; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
