Dora Jean Gerlach, 86, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Lutheran Home.
She was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Jackson to the late Roy and Nell Williams Schreiner. She and Bobby G. Gerlach were married Jan. 27, 1951, at Jackson. He preceded her in death March 22, 2018.
Dora Jean worked at the hosiery mill and was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a Girl Scout leader and secretary of the PTA at Trinity Lutheran School. She was a member and long-time greeter at the church for more than 60 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean (Ron) Bollinger of Cape Girardeau; a son, Mark (Debbie) Gerlach of Terre Du Lac, Missouri; brothers, Ralph Dayton Schreiner and Jerry Schreiner of Jackson; sisters, Betty Suedekum of Jackson, Barbara Wendel of Jackson, Mary Biri of Fruitland and Judy Huber of Jackson; six grandchildren, Lorie (Marc) Alaimo of Agoura Hills, California, Kelly (J.R.) Brown of Perryville, Missouri, Abby (Richard Marquart) Gerlach of Cape Girardeau; Martin (Asheley) Litton III of Potosi, Missouri, Corey Litton of Potosi and Kaitlyn Litton of Terre Du Lac; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Daniel Maske officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran School.
