DORA ALLEN

ANNA, Ill. -- Dora Hindman Lence Allen, 86, of Anna died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born June 9, 1914, in Anna, daughter of William Singleton and Dora Carmantha Hindman Lence. She and Dean C. Allen were married Aug. 17, 1958, at First Baptist Church in Anna.

Allen was a teacher for 38 years. She taught in rural Murphysboro, Ill., Anna, Wolf Lake, Ill., Anna Junior High School and Kankakee School District 111.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna, Business and Professional Women's Association of Anna, the Anna-Jonesboro Garden Club, Illinois Retired Teachers Organization, the APURT Retired Teachers Organization, Southern Illinois University and University of Illinois alumni associations, the Kankakee Federation of Teachers and the Anna VFW Auxiliary Post No. 3455.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Kevin D. Allen of Aledo, Ill.; and one sister, Cynthia C. Lence of Anna.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roy Hill officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
