Donna Smith

Donna Jean Smith, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born July 30, 1936, in Peoria, Ill., to Dutch and Edith Huff Kretz. She married Virgil Smith in 1953. He preceded her in death in March 1995.

Donna was a member of the Eagles Aerie of Cape Girardeau, AMVETS Post and VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Peoria.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Kenny) Maloney and Debbie (John) Brinkman of Jackson; three sons, Rodney (Sherry) Smith of Pensacola, Fla., David Smith of Cape Girardeau and Raymond Smith (Margaret Caddo) of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, a brother; and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a great-grandchild and a nephew.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Crain Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home, with Janet Hopkins officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
