VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Donna Rae Scott Magnuson, 50, died January 1, 2000, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. She fought a long battle with kidney failure and was on dialysis for the past three years awaiting a transplant. On November 5, 1999, she suffered a heart attack and had been hospitalized since that date.

Donna Magnuson was a native of Cape Girardeau. As a graduate of Southeast Missouri State she enjoyed a long professional career at many endeavors, including Sears, Grumman Data Systems and her most recent years with Trader Publishing Company. A former resident of Virginia Beach, she was presently living in Annandale, Va. As a Navy spouse for 26 years, Donna was active at every duty station where her husband served. She was an ambassador of goodwill to Navy families around the world.

Survivors include her husband, LCDR (Ret.) Frank Magnuson of Annandale, Va.; two sons, Matthew Magnuson of Atlanta, Ga. and Scott Magnuson of Annandale, Va.; her mother, Edra Scott of Cape Girardeau; and her brother Larry Kelley of Leopold, Mo.

Her father, Thurmond R. Scott of Cape Girardeau predeceased her in 1993.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, in Bayside Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dick Keever. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Sentara Norfolk General Transplant Center, 600 Gresham Drive, Norfolk, Va. 23507. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach is handling arrangements.
