Donald Edward Vance, 71, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, at his home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 16, 1932, at Grenada, Miss., son of William Lee Vance and Lottie Thomas Vance. He and Kathryn Keller were married Nov. 10, 1955, at Marshfield, Mo.
He was a member of First Union Baptist Church in Versailles, Mo.
Mr. Vance owned and operated Don Vance Ford in Versailles, Mo., from 1978 to present and Don Vance Ford in Marshfield, Mo., from 1992 to present.
He was a senior master sergeant and radio operator, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1971.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Chaffee, Mo., and former master of Lodge in Nuebruecke, Germany. He was a four-time President's Award recipient from Ford Motor Co. and a chairman of Ford Dealer Advertising Association for eight years. He was president of the Versailles Ambulance District and a former president of the Chaffee school board. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a former Sunday school teacher in Chaffee and was NCO of the year for European forces in Germany. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Vance of Cape Girardeau; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Vance Jr. and Vickey Vance of Marshfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim Mothershead and Russ Mothershead of Benton, Mo., a brother, Grover Lee Vance of Grenada, Miss.; and seven grandchildren, Russ Allen Mothershead of West Bend, Wis., Clay Austin Mothershead, Kathryn Jo Mothershead and Julie Anne Mothershead, all of Benton, Donald Edward Vance III, Andrea Lori Mothershead and Savanna Belle Mothershead, all of Marshfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Pratt officiating. Military honors will be presented at graveside by Scott Air Force base personnel. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park.
